Backstory

Markus grew up and got his education in Texas. During his formative years he had a knack for modding videogames, which would kickstart his career in programming. A slight interest in robotics and the state of android technology around him is what drew him towards taking an internship (then getting a job with) Raschor Corp, an android manufacturer based in Olympus, California.

In California with his sibling, Ray, Markus would primarily work on building the "brains" each line of androids would use, with only a slight amount of tinkering done on his part. This would remain for the beginning of his time at Raschor, as he was later removed from his usual line of work, and put to work on something more "experimental". Simply dubbed "Battle Robots", this line of androids was Rascor Corp's attempt towards appealing to Olympus's "underground" population. As such, the Battle Robots were also an underground project, assigned to a small team of employees including Markus, but excluding Ray. Employees working on the Battle Robots project would work in a seperate office to keep up the secret, but would also return to the regular Raschor offices from time to time to keep up appearances.

In a 2018 incident unrelated to the Battle Robots, an office Markus was visiting was attacked by a group known as the Khans. They were after any technology Raschor had stored in its offices, but they also took a few hostages (Markus included) to draw out any loot they could not find. Unsure if he would be let go even if they received their loot, Markus made a hasty decision to offer himself as an asset to the Khans.

While he did come out of the ordeal alive, that also meant the Khans took him up on his offer. The work he has done and continues to do for the Khans includes making, modifying, and reparing weapons, as well as producing other tech that would otherwise benefit the Khans. Aside from now being associated with criminals, the pressure of relearning how to mess with hardware in a timely manner waned on Markus's mental health. The costs in mental health were repaid in actual wealth, Khan commissions garnering much more money compared to what Markus had made under Raschor Corp.

Markus came across his "magnum opus" when he was commissioned to "make another teammate" for a group of Khans. To do this, he hunted around for android bodies he could modify and came across a trashed Battle Robot body, of which he had previous knowledge with. He restored the body and looked to filling the artificial intelligence within with more than just fighting. Using resources the Khans provided, Markus had made his own functioning android, dubbed "Bria".

When it was time for Markus to hand Bria over to the people for whom she was commissioned, Markus deeply and visibily hesitated to do so. As a compromise, the Khans who originally commissioned Bria agreed to let Markus have keeps over her, but only when she wasn't presently of use to the Khans. Since then, Markus's life progressed the way it did before, except now he had a superpowered robot daughter to maintain.

Ever since being taken in by the Khans, Markus has not notified anyone he previously knew about his whereabouts.
